General contractors have exposures from many sub-contractors on all the projects they construct. These exposures are transferred to the subs through the sub-contract, in its indemnities. The indemnities are to be backed up by the required insurance.
The subs must provide certificates of insurance evidencing the coverages. The subs are also usually required to name the owner of each project, as well as the General Contractor, as additional insureds on the subs' insurance policies and provide them waivers of subrogation.
How CertCon Can Help:
The General Contractor can outsource to CertCon the myriad of activities associated with managing, monitoring, and maintaining certificates.
-

-
Analyze certificates of insurance for compliance with the subcontracts.
-
Mail reports to subcontractors indicating compliance or non-compliance, and requesting corrections as required.
-
Monitor expiration dates and request renewal certificates upon expiration.
-
Re-analyze revised certificates and send follow-up non-compliance notices as necessary.
-
Make the information instantly available online to allow General Contractors to stay informed of subcontractor compliance with insurance requirements.
